Fear and Lies

Recently, on Tenth Avenue North's website, I read an entry in Mike's journal - Chapter Let it Go. I recommend that you go and read it by clicking on that link. I won't restate the entire chapter. It's worth reading for yourself. I will say that it started with this quote:

“And avoid fear, for fear is the consequence of every lie.”

I've lived in fear and misery more than not. I am saved by the blood of the Lamb. I should be free already, right? What lie am I believing that is keeping me in bondage? What will it take to kill that fear & to live in freedom; live boldly with confidence?

Fear can drive stick & sicken me down this road. A road down which I swore I'd never go. & here I sit thinking of God knows what, affraid to admit I might self destruct. I love that Relient K song! The fear of rejection is a powerful thing. The fear of fear can drive you mad. The fear of abandonment can cause you to do many things. But the fear of the Lord is what keeps us all safe.

Ecclesiastes 2:17
"So I hated life, because the work that is done under the sun was grievous to me. All of it is meaningless, a chasing after the wind."

Jesus Christ is as He said, "the way and the truth and the life," and the only way to the Father (John 14:6).
Without Him, all the good I try to be is utterly meaningless. I was living in the shadow. The reality is found in Christ (Colossians 2:17).
